Get to know your Port Douglas Beach House

Tropical north Queensland has conditions that are unmatched anywhere else in Australia, so it’s important to be prepared before you head up to your Port Douglas Beach House, Cairns, Palm Cove, Bedarra Island or Bramston Beach.
Temperatures in Port Douglas rarely go below the mid 20s, even during winter, with that average temperature hitting the low 30s during summer. It will stay warm during the evening and at night, with minimum temperatures not far below 20. Humidity is high all year round, and it’s important to keep hydrated in conditions that can be quite oppressive at times for those not used to it. And it’s important to note the impact of the wet season during the early months of the year – more than 1200 millimetres of rain falls in Port Douglas from January to March on average. The ideal time to travel for constant sunshine and warm temperatures is between June and October, with less than 50 millimetres of rain each month.
If you’re planning on exploring the region from your Port Douglas Beach House, the Boutique Collection offers some of the following tips:
• Carry a first aid kit with you at all times
• Have drinking water in your vehicle in case of a breakdown
• Don’t use soaps or detergents in natural streams or swimming holes
• Walk creek crossings before driving through during the wet season
• Call ahead and check if businesses and places are operating before you plan to visit – some might not be open at certain times of the year
• If you get in trouble, do not leave your vehicle – outback rules apply in the rainforest too!
• Support local communities and buy their produce when you drive through small towns
